BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Dec. 10 -- The University of Alabama at Birmingham issued the following news release:

Richard Whitley, M.D., director of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases (http://medicine.uab.edu/Peds/62093/) and a renowned researcher on antiviral therapies designed to fight infections in children and adults, has been installed as president of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) (https://www.idsociety.org/).
