BOONE, N.C., Dec. 10 -- Appalachian State University issued the following news release:
Western North Carolina lost jobs for the sixth consecutive month in October, according to data in the Western North Carolina Economic Index and Report compiled at Appalachian State University. The region's economic activity fell 0.1 percent in October, which follows a 0.5 decline (revised) in September and no movement in July and August.
