SANTA FE, N.M., Dec. 5 -- The New Mexico Department of Public Education issued the following news release:
New Mexico Secretary of Education, Veronica C. Garcia, today clarified the intent of the Hispanic Education Act recently proposed by Governor Richardson to be the first of its kind in the nation. Hispanics make up 56% of the K-12 student population in New Mexico.
