ST. PAUL, Minn., Aug. 20 -- Minnesota State Sen. Steve Murphy, DFL-28th District, issued the following news release:

During this time of political campaigning, there has been much focus on our nation's record-high gas prices. Many candidates, including Sen. John McCain, are advocating offshore drilling as a solution to our nation's energy crisis. While I respect Sen. McCain and many of his ideals, I feel that his energy plan is incredibly shortsighted and politically motivated.
