WASHINGTON, Aug. 15 -- The Senate Environment & Public Works Committee issued the following news release:

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today wrote a letter to ask Secretary of Interior Dirk Kempthorne to abandon proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act (ESA) that were unveiled last week, and requesting that Kempthorne to testify at an ESA oversight hearing slated for September 24.
