ILWU International Vice President Wesley Furtado Passes
SAN FRANCISCO, California, March 17 -- The International Longshore and Warehouse Union issued the following news document:
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Wesley "Wes" Furtado, ILWU International Vice President, Hawaii. Wes started on the waterfront in 1978 as a second-generation longshoreman and member of ILWU Local 142. During his time on the waterfront, he became a shop steward, longshore unit officer, and longshore negotiating committee member.

National Marine Manufacturers Association: States Take Action in Response to COVID-19
CHICAGO, Illinois, March 18 -- The National Marine Manufacturers Association issued the following news release:
At least eighteen states have introduced legislation to support state action related to COVID-19, including resolutions to encourage certain practices and bills that involve workforce protections or medical coverage, or are related to actions taken by the Governor in a state of emergency. Of these states, twelve have enacted or adopted legislation.
