WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 -- The Democratic National Committee issued the following statement by spokesperson Daniel Wessel on the decision by Rep. Tom Marino, R- Pa., to withdraw his name from consideration to be President Trump's drug czar:
"Tom Marino's withdrawal does nothing to show that Trump is taking the opioid epidemic seriously.
"Despite his rhetoric and months of repeated promises, Trump still hasn't declared the opioid crisis a national emergency.
