Board Seeks to Increase Student Mentorship by Allowing Employees to Volunteer During Work Hours

LOS ANGELES, June 20 -- The Los Angeles Unified School District issued the following news release:

The Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education voted unanimously today to direct District staff to explore increasing mentorship to students by allowing employees to participate in such activities during work hours. The "Volunteering on the Clock" resolution was co-sponsored by Student Board Member Karen Calderon and Board Member Monica Ratliff.
