KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 18 -- The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation issued the following news release:

Despite the recent upsurge in U.S. business activity, entrepreneurship remains in a long-term decline that has prevented millions of Americans from achieving economic success. Research indicates that a variety of demographic, socioeconomic and geographic barriers stand in the way of entrepreneurs starting and succeeding today.
