WASHINGTON, Aug. 16 -- The office of Sen. Thomas Carper, D-Del., issued the following statement after President Trump's remarks regarding the violent events in Charlottesville:
"The United States of America was built upon the principle that every man and woman should have equal opportunity for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
