TOPEKA, Kan., Aug. 6 -- Westar Energy issued the following news release:
Westar Energy, Inc. (NYSE:WR) today announced earnings of $53 million, or $0.41 per share, for the second quarter 2014 compared with earnings of $67 million, or $0.53 per share, for the second quarter 2013. Without COLI proceeds, second quarter 2013 earnings would have been $57 million or $0.45 per share.
