TALLAHASSEE, Fla., May 19 -- The Florida Department of Education issued the following statement by Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith:

"Today, I was able to join State Board of Education Chairman T. Willard Fair for a visit to two wonderful elementary schools in Miami.
