BATON ROUGE, La., Dec. 18 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Louisiana Agricultural Statistics office issued the following press release:
Cotton & Sugarcane Crop Prospects
Louisiana cotton production is forecast at 280,000 bales, unchanged from last month but down 60 percent from 2007. Cotton acreage for harvest is forecast at 260,000 acres. Yield per acre, at 517 pounds, is down 500 pounds from last year.
