SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Nov. 16 -- The City of Springfield issued the following news release:
In anticipation of a projected $10+ million deficit to the city budget, Mayor Tim Davlin today announced a new round of spending reductions to help shore up the city's budget next fiscal year. City departments have been directed to eliminate the use of nonessential take-home vehicles by city employees, delay major equipment purchases, and to continue a strict review of filling vacant positions . . .
