WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 -- The office of Sen. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii, issued the text following statement:
Aloha! I was so delighted to be invited to speak to all of you today to discuss my priorities as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
As many of you know, I am also a senior member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services. Wearing these two hats has afforded me a great opportunity to address veterans matters from different angles.
